Bringing the squad along for some post-lockdown team bonding in 2021, the Glasgow Warriors caught the racing bug after a few laps on our track and have been regular visitors ever since. A competitive bunch that is used to the intensity and exhilaration of being out on the rugby pitch, they are always on the lookout for their next adrenaline-filled team experience and found exactly what they were looking for here at Larkhall Circuit.
We spoke to George Horne and Stafford McDowall about their intense on-track battles.
Previously racing on indoor tracks, scrum-half George Horne quickly realised that outdoor karting is a whole different ball game. Finding it to be a far more realistic representation of the high-speed racing you see on TV, it didn’t take him long to get hooked on the thrill of racing outdoors.
“The speed of the karts makes it a lot more fun and also a lot trickier, as you really need to think about braking zones. The larger track also gives a great mix of technical sectors but also some nice long straights which are great for the lighter guys like myself. I think the higher speed and longer track make it a far more realistic representation of racing like we see on TV, and is a major reason why we’ve been back to Larkhall Circuit so often.”

“We’ve all really enjoyed our time spent at the track and would urge anyone looking for their next group activity to try out Larkhall Circuit. I think the first experience of that adrenaline-filled competitive environment got us all pretty much hooked and we’ve been coming back regularly ever since. It’s been a great way to spend time with our teammates out of the rugby environment and it usually becomes the talk of training for the next few days as everyone’s still buzzing.”
