In August 2021, we welcomed young people from across East Renfrewshire to Larkhall Circuit as part of the East Renfrewshire Summer Youth Group. An initiative from Greater Glasgow police, the youth group aims to provide support to those most in need by offering them worthwhile and challenging new experiences, helping them build their self-esteem and develop social relationships.
Everyone had an amazing time and the opportunity for some of these young people to try karting for the first time and the benefits to their mental health is extraordinary. The changes have been massive, I think a lot of young people became a lot more confident and they are trying things that they maybe wouldn’t try normally. So it’s been really good in the sense that they are pushing their boundaries. I don’t think the majority of them have ever been involved in karting before, certainly not on a track like this. So, that’s been excellent.
The staff was tremendous with the young people. You have definitely went above and beyond for us!
